Docs Smart Lil Lynx

Ok... I have totally been slacking at this blog stuff lately! Here's my "excuse" though. Over Christmas I got a really large gift from my friend at the barn and now I really have zero time unless I do this at work. Here is a picture of what I opened on Christmas Day... Her name is Scooter and she is so great. Honey is not at all happy about it but maybe it's like that for all only children at first. :-) Honey has tried to bite me 3 times since Christmas!!! She hasn't tried to bite me since she was 4 years old and I layed the smack down on her for it!! LOL! She's been very pissy and immature for an almost 9 year old horse.
Anyway... Scooter is so much fun and I had been talking about wanting a new project for a long time and I finally got it. I will be starting her in drill this year but other than that I am not sure what exactly I want to do with her. I was thinking about trying her out at the Zone shows this summer in Hunter classes. She seems to be a very willing horse for me and she has an amazing trot. It kind of amazes Janice (her old owner) because she and Scooter used to fight each other for everything. She is actually bred to be a cow horse but doesn't look it much. I might see if she has any natural talent for cutting or reining or whatever. Maybe we'll have some buffalo again this summer. I can't wait to go trail riding this summer!! I know right...who would have thought those words would come from my mouth! HAHA! I love Honey with all my heart and she will always be my first girl but trail riding on her was never a whole lot of fun for me. My fault for not doing it more often with her. Actually I think I am just retarded now that I think about it. Honey was excellent the last time I took her on a trail ride. I think I hated it so much because it was a ride everyone told me was nice and easy and only a couple hours long. Over two hours and you are pushing it with me. HAHA! But that ride ended up being 5 hours long up in Elbe Hills on switch backs and other crappy stuff!!

Yep...pretty sure it is just me. Here's to having two horses! I never actually though it would happen. HAHA! There is something to be said about getting a horse for Christmas. Let me tell you!

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas.

From the looks of things so far I won't just be dreaming of a white Christmas. This past weekend I finally got to enjoy the snow. It helps so much when you don't have to commute in it. It's not that I don't think I can handle the snow it's the other idiots around me, flying into ditches, into stopped intersections, trees, cement barriers, oncoming traffic, or worst of all me! (That is how my malibu got totalled.) Anyhow, this last weekend I felt the "Spirit of Christmas". I was very cheerful all weekend and I went out & played in the snow with my horse. Honey really likes the snow apparently. She immediatley dropped to the grond out side & started rolling in it. (I think she was making snow horse angels). Then she started to eat it. I joined in the fun with her. :-) I am posting a few pics I took with my cell phone this last weekend. I hope everyone has a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Much love!

Holiday Eating Tips

HOLIDAY EATING TIPS
1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.
2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare.. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!
3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.
4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.
5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free Lots of it. Hello?
6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.
7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.
8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?
9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.
10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention.
Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

Have a great holiday season!!

Winter Poem...

I found this beautiful winter poem
and thought it might be a comfort to you. It was to me, and it's very well written.
I hope that you enjoy it too.

"WINTER"
by Abigail Elizabeth McIntyre

Shit It's Cold!

The End

SNOW...and my Birthday.

I know it is winter, and I know everyone (including me) loves a white Christmas. These things are wonderful. I have decided though that they are only wonderful if you don't have to commute anywhere. If I could stay home today and just sit and watch the snow fall & I only had to go to the barn I'm sure I'd be outside making a snow man or something retarded. Throwing snowballs at Cheyanne or whatever. I remember for my 9th birthday (Dec. 18th, 1990) I WISHED for Snow. I totally got it too. I remember loving it. School was canceled for two days, my mom got snowed in at work for a night. I stayed at my God-mother's house. A DREAM COME TRUE!!! I wish I would have called in to work today. Of course now if I miss a day of work that is $140.00 I am not making. THIS SUCKS!!! Hopefully something will happen here in downtown Seattle so the snow will melt & I can get my butt home to Spanaway and Roy. This is a horrible Birthday gift if you ask me!! Sitting in traffic from 5am - 8am. JEEEEZ!!! Nice Joke! Sorry I am blowing off some steam. Well, anyways hopefully I won't have to cancel the big B-day party on Saturday. Let's all hope for some 40 degree weather please. :-)

Hmmmm... What do I say?

So I hate to be overly obsessive but if anyone has read any of my blogs it's pretty obvious that I do lean toward that tendency. I call myself passionate about what I love though. In my previous blog I said that there would never be any books to compare with the Twilight saga books. They have not been out done by any means, but let me just tell you, The Host has risen to the same level as Twilight for me. I finished reading it just like I did with all the Twilight books, up until 5:30am until I was DONE! I am now convinced that it is Stephenie Meyer. She tells such great stories I can't help but being sucked into them. I also discovered that yet again I am in love with characters from books. I am very much in love with Edward (my vampire) still. Alas, though I am now in love with Ian & Jared from 'The Host' as well. What is a girl to do?? HAHA!
So anyhow, any person that is a die hard fan of the 'Twilight Saga' should really read 'The Host' also. It is so wonderful & I am glad to add another book (soon to be books) to my collection of books I can read repeatedly. :-) I'm so excited for the next in the series I can hardly stand it!! 'The Soul' I really hope will be coming out pretty soon. YES!!!

OK! I've Commited! Now just to read it...this should be interesting.

OK...I have committed now. I admit I do not want to be done with Twilight yet by any means but since I got the urge last night to buy Stephenie Meyer's 1st book of her next series I just went and did it. I have read three chapters so far, and it seems good. Don't get me wrong!! It's NO TWILIGHT SERIES!! I don't think anyone will ever be able to top those. The fact that I love every character in those books and the way I am somehow drawn to them... I mean I have never wanted to go visit a town where a book is based out of. Yet, there I was in Forks, WA and La Push, WA taking in the sights. As my god-mother told me yesterday..."You are drawn for a reason which you may not understand for now." She's always so supportive. HAHA! My mom just thinks I am crazy. (It's because she won't read them.)

Anyhow, back to this new book. It was definitely an adventureto get it! I went to the store to pick one up and there were only 3 copies (all in hardback). I would have bought it but I didn't have the cash on me to buy a $22 book. I assumed they would have it in paperback for like $10 or something. No such luck. So I decided to go home get cash & go buy it at the Wal-mart by my house. Well of course that location didn't have it so I just went home, ate dinner, and went to bed. This morning I woke up early ran to the Spanway Wal-mart and bought it. I misjudged the time it would take me to get to work so I had 30 minutes to spare before I started. So...naturally I started to read. Like I said it feels like it's going to be a good book...and then it happened.

I went to lunch today and read 2 more chapters. Now I am hooked! GOSH DARN IT!!!! This Stephenie Meyer lady is a hypnotist I tell you!!! Only she does it with words! Making them all hypnotizing and stuff! LOL! I'll admit it, this book was not something that I was interested in reading at all. SCI-FI about aliens...but, alas I now will be reading into the wee hours of the night I assume.

The only negative...I found Twilight when all four books were already released. This book 'The Host' is only the first of 3 or 4 books. None of the others are out yet. UGH!!! What kind of mess have I gotten myself into now??!!

Getting older...but it still feels like I'm 21!

Have you ever had a moment in your life where everything just kind of stops…and all of a sudden you’ve realized that you are older? If you have had this moment you know exactly what I am talking about. I, for the last six years have not really felt any older than 21. In some cases I still tend to think that I am more like 19. So, about a month ago I was telling my mom about these books that I read. They are “young adult” novels but I told my mom “they are for adults too!” She looked at me and said “well yeah…you are an adult you know.” That statement kind of weirded me out a little bit. I didn’t have “the moment” yet but it was still strange to have my mom say that to me, especially since she still sits me and the rest of my cousins that are my age at the “kids” table. Ha ha! I didn’t think too much of it after that and just went about my normal life.
Well last week I decided to look up these actors on Wikipedia.com because they are in my favorite movie based on those novels I was talking about earlier. I had seen this movie…lets just say…numerous times. I was slowly looking at everyone’s DOB and what other movies they were in. Now, I knew that the main female character in the movie was 18 yrs. old in real life and two of the male characters in the movie were 22 yrs. and 16 yrs. old. This never bothered me before and I just felt like pretty much everyone in that movie was in my same age group. When I started looking at the years each of these people were born in THAT’S when it hit me! All these actors & actresses aside from three of them were much younger than me. Their Years of birth ranging from 1979 – 1992!!!!! I mean REALLY!!! This was not what I wanted to experience! Some one that is 18 years old was born in 1990!!! In 1990 I was in the 4th grade already!!!
Since last week I have been in this strange state of mind. I wouldn’t call it depression because I KNOW that 27 is not anywhere near being old. I guess it could be that I am actually coming to the realization that I am closer to 30 now than I am to 21. Maybe that it’s time I start to grow up and leave behind my irresponsibility and silliness. Maybe it’s because I am one of the VERY FEW people left in my group of friends that is still completely single with no strings attached to my ankles holding me in one place. I have never been depressed (so far) about being single though and I do not ever want children. Who knows the answer?? I am hoping it will pass quickly since I am essentially a very happy person, happy with my life and everything in it (other than wanting to win mega millions). My 27th b-day is coming up in 2 weeks and I don’t want to be acting retarded because I all of a sudden think I am old. LOL!! I guess it’s just like people always say… “Age is a state of mind.” Here’s to keeping my young state of mind for as long as possible!
